Paul worked in the mechanical research and design industry since the mid 1990’s. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1994 and considers himself a lifetime student in science and engineering fields.
Started career at Carl Zeiss IMT in the new products group designing and prototyping new Coordinate Measuring machines. Then went to Minntech Corp to work in the medical device field. During that time he was promoted to Mechanical Engineer Mechanical Lead where he fell in love with the precision and challenge of optomechanics. To further his optomechanical engineering and electromechanical passions he took a job at PPT Vision where he was the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader for the 3D Group and developed 3D and 2D machine vision systems.
After many years of working, while occasionally consulting from time to time, Paul decided to start Ober Design and Engineering LLC. For more than 15 years he worked on multiple projects and built a loyal client base.
He holds several patents in the optical, medical, scientific and consumer fields.
He is passionate about science and engineering and helping the youth discover its magic. Paul spent many years as a high school robotics mentor and Ober Design and Engineering currently sponsors First Robotics teams.
On his off time he enjoys all things building, especially woodworking. Also enjoys running and family activities.
